WHAT IS ACRYLIC?

Acrylic (also known as Perspex® or Plexiglas®) is a strong, lightweight plastic sheet prized for its glass-like clarity, durability and versatility. It's available clear, frosted, coloured, mirrored and opaque, and it laser cuts beautifully — unlike PVC foam board, which can't be laser cut at all (see our PVC foam board cutting page), acrylic cuts clean with a smooth, glossy, flame-polished edge straight off the laser bed.

Common thicknesses run from around 1.5mm up to 25mm, in standard sheet sizes up to 1200 x 2400mm (with larger formats available on request).

OUR ACRYLIC CUTTING SERVICE

Every panel is laser cut, giving you a clean, glass-smooth edge with no chipping, cracking or rough finish — no secondary polishing needed. It's the ideal process for fine detail, intricate shapes and crisp lettering that other cutting methods simply can't match.

  • Straight cuts and panels cut to size from full sheets

  • Custom shapes, curves and profiles cut to your artwork or drawings

  • Fine detail, logos and lettering cut with sharp, clean edges

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can acrylic be laser cut? Yes — acrylic is one of the best materials for laser cutting. It leaves a clean, glass-smooth, flame-polished edge straight off the machine, with no rough edges or secondary finishing required.

What thicknesses of acrylic do you cut? We can supply and cut acrylic from around 1.5mm up to 12mm~, depending on stock availability. Let us know your application and we'll recommend the right thickness.

What colours and finishes are available? Acrylic is available clear, frosted, coloured, mirrored and opaque. Let us know your project and we'll help you pick the right option.

What's the difference between acrylic and PVC foam board? Acrylic gives you a rigid, glass-like clarity and a premium finish, and it laser cuts with a polished edge — it's the better choice when you need transparency, gloss or a high-end look. PVC foam board is lighter, more affordable and fully opaque, and suits general signage, display and internal fit-out work where cost and weight matter more than clarity. See our PVC foam board cutting page for more.

Can you cut custom shapes, not just rectangles? Yes — send us your artwork, a sketch or a drawing with measurements and we'll laser cut acrylic to almost any shape, including fine detail, logos and lettering.

Do you deliver Australia-wide? Yes. We're based in Rutherford, NSW (Hunter Valley), and we deliver Australia-wide as well as to New Zealand.

How long does it take? Turnaround depends on the size and complexity of the job. Get in touch with your specs and we'll give you a quote and lead time.
